Edgar's Daily Journal-

Another reason is you need less sleep now for the following reasons:

  1. 10% of your metabolic rate was devoted to digestion of food and storage of excess calories into fat. That’s freed up now.
  2. The brain runs better on ketones than on glucose.

You’ll get used to running on less sleep during fasting, I average 4 to 5 hours and I was fine once I adjusted to it.

Day 6- Finished

I am now officially on day 7. About 148 hours into my fast.

It is a little over 3AM, I cant sleep, so I am deciding to type this now. Tonight has been tough… I haven’t had any food cravings or hunger really, just a really bad urge to vomit. And if it wasn’t for that, my fast would literally be a breeze. I have had that urge for a couple of days now but tonight is so much worse.

After doing some reading and watching videos, it seems to be one of the main reasons people end their fast. I am not going to let that happen to me. I read that a fix for this is to drink a tablespoon of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar w/ Mother, mixed with half a cup of water. This should immediately make the symptom go away after about a minute. A common cause is taking in too much salt at one time, for example, taking a teaspoon of Pink Himalayan Salt directly and then shoving it down with water… which I have been doing lol So in the morning I will head to the store and immediately pick some up. It is better to mix that salt with warm water and sip on it for a bit, at least for me. Another cause is bile mixing with stomach acid, which often means your body is trying to cleanse heavily. That bile is also part of the reason for the nasty taste and white tongue.

Overall Day 6 was really easy until right now… I’m literally trying to not puke on my keyboard as I type lol Sorry TMI

Hopefully after some sleep, tomorrow will be much better! TRUST YOUR STRENGTH! :muscle:

Here’s an interesting thing I experienced. When I did my recent 21 day, I was able to avoid keto breath by drinking black coffee with stevia in the morning and herbal tea in the afternoon. Also I started scrapping the tongue both morning and night. That appeared to do the trick. But, that’s just me.

Awesome!! I am going to give it a shot!!

I drink the half of my salt water in the morning in one go and in the evening too. I had some reflux today. So might be the problem that I drink it all in one go 2 times a day. I’m also going to try to spead it more troughout the day. thank you for sharing your expierence. it’s helping me too

Day 7- Finished

I am now on day 8!! About 180 hours into my fast!

Yesterday I felt amazing, best day I have had so far! Mentally I was very energized and had absolutely zero craving besides the urge to smell everything lol It was just pleasant and didn’t make me hungry at all. I even cooked food for my nieces and nephews and made dinner later on for my family while we are on lock down because of the virus. And still zero urges for food! :hugs:

Sleeping was a lot better this time around. Although I still had trouble falling asleep, it wasn’t as hard as the previous nights. And once I finally passed out, my sleep was really good and long!

Also some good tips! This fast I decided not to use any toothpaste because accidentally swallowing toothpaste would upset my stomach and cause headaches, so I only used water to brush my teeth everyday. The problem with that was how much more frequently I would have to brush and scrape my tongue because of the keto breath and white tongue. Last night I was advised to use only baking soda when brushing and scraping my tongue…MAN DOES IT WORK WONDERS. The nasty taste in my mouth disappeared the whole night, and my mouth felt so much cleaner. Baking soda is mostly sodium, zero calories, and it won’t break your fast if you accidentally swallow it! Just remember to fully rinse and wash your mouth after you are done!! Also, when getting acid reflux, take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and mix it with about 6-8 ounces of water, then drink it. It will help it go down! :raised_hands:

I am excited about going further with this fast. I know not everyday will feel as good as this one, but as long as I keep pushing myself and staying mentally strong, I know I can achieve my daily goals. Remember to TRUST YOUR STRENGTH  :muscle:

Day 8- Finished

I am now on day 9! About 204 hours into my fast!!

Yesterday started off great, but I think I caught a small cold or something. Overall yesterday wasn’t bad, but I did have my first craving in a while. My family made brisket and the smell was amazing, but I didn’t cave in!!! I just went back to my desk and continued with my research and gaming.

Later that night the urge to vomit came back. My acid reflux was really bad and even APV wouldn’t help it go down. When I woke up this morning it was still pretty bad and I woke up very bloated and gassy; I felt pretty dehydrated as well. I am feeling a little better now but I know today is going to be hard.

Overall I am still excited about this fast, even on days like this. Hopefully these symptoms go away soon and it gets better. Remember to TRUST YOUR STRENGTH

Day 9- Finished

I am now on day 10. About 228 hours into my fast.

I am going to be honest… These past days have been horrible and this morning even worse. My acid reflux woke me up very early today and I haven’t been able to sleep since. I had spent hours trying to find a fast friendly fix but then suddenly I vomited… not once, but three times. It was awful and it hurt. I thought I would at least feel better after but nope, its even worse now and literally still at the edge of my throat. I don’t know what to do… I don’t want to quit, but I am also having bad chest pains.

Someone help.

Also I have never had acid reflux, nor in previous fasts.

I puked 3 times late into my 40-day, but I immediately felt better. I attribute that to toxin residue from the toxins released from burning decades-old body fat mixed with the acetone from ketosis.

I did not experience chest pains. I would stop at this point. You’ve done well. Count it as a win. Do a good ReFeed and strengthen your body for another try. I’d call your doc regarding your chest pains, at the very least, if they are still continuing the day after you stop.

For myself, after my 21-day fast earlier this year I did a 6-day ReFeed and then a 26-day workout phase before starting my current 21.

@Compdude @Overcomer you both have been so much help, I seriously appreciate you sticking by me these past 10 days. And thank you to everyone else who stood by me and motivated me.

Unfortunately I had to end my fast short. I tried to push through but it was getting worse and worse. I even tried a million remedies… The vomit was worse and worse each time and the acidic burn was unbearable. At the end, I ended my fast with low sodium chicken broth (5 calories a serving) and some really low carb fruit like berries, only a few. My acid reflux was still pretty bad but not as bad after I ate a little. After a small nap, I woke up feeling much better. I am still bummed I had to end it early but I am glad I was prepared for my re-feed before hand. Otherwise I probably would’ve ate something random in hopes it would stop. :pensive:

I still want to journal and update you guys daily, so for the next week, I will begin my first stage of re-feeding, which will only include broths followed by a week of broth with veggies and then finally adding meats into the mix on the third week. I will also begin my training guide in a few days once I regain energy. My plan is to eventually start another fast before April ends. Maybe by then I have lost enough weight and further detoxed my body that I wont be having anymore of these bad symptoms. I have never felt that way in previous fasts, in which I was also 70lbs lighter… so it kinda makes sense.

Speaking of weight! I LOST 22LBS!!! I am sitting at 288, and I’m certain with my training program and new mindset I will lose even more weight. This experience was truly incredible, and even though it was only 10 short days, I learned more and more throughout that time about myself which has helped shift my mindset. :raised_hands:

This community rocks and I couldn’t thank y’all enough

10 days is a great achievement! Be very proud and yes when you feel much better start again and we will be with you through it. Glad we were able to encourage you. My day2 will be completed in 2 hours, I’m taking it one day at a time as every fast seems to be different.

Also, my scale is dead now but I did weigh myself last night with the final seconds of life it had left. I have batteries coming in about 2 hours so once I get them in, I will do another weigh in and show you all!! I have a before picture of me too but I’m self conscious lol So maybe after I complete my workouts and head into my next fast I will post it :upside_down_face:
