Donna's March Journey

Thanks! Yes, I’m still doing the gratitude breaks. If it weren’t for my phone alarm, I would get sidetracked and forget all about it.

This is Pumpkin. She will be 7 in May.

March 28 – Day Seven:

Feeling pretty good although sleep wasn’t so great last night. It’s funny that although I haven’t eaten in a week (outside of a few supplements in the morning), I actually had a bowel movement. So that’s just more waste getting cleaned out. :+1:

My gluts are a little sore today from weeding the flower bed yesterday, so that’s a little inflammation even though I took a cold shower afterwards. That’s probably why the scale today was the same as yesterday.

I cooked and baked yesterday (a new recipe, “Stone Age Bread” made with seeds, nuts, & eggs, plus two kinds of dog biscuits) and even though it all smelled really good, I was OK with leaving it alone. :innocent:

Yesterday I noticed I was really happy and energized and feel pretty much that way today. I attribute it to several things:

  • Gratitude breaks!
  • Staying on track with fasting
  • Continuing with daily 75Hard and journaling 750 words & other daily routine commitments
  • Getting started on the flower bed and making good progress
  • Successful errand runs
  • Getting the cooking done
  • Inspirational, motivational, educational reading
  • Communication with beloved people
  • Avoiding as much of the current craziness as I can

Onward!

March 29 – Day Eight:

Had the expected drop on the scale and got a compliment yesterday on looking slimmer which was a nice unexpected little boost.

Today I noted a couple of symptoms indicating the need for electrolytes. I realized that although I got plenty of fluid yesterday, I had neglected the electrolytes. I’m about to get my second glass now.

Sleep again wasn’t so great, but it’s OK. Muscles still a bit sore and I am about to stretch with some yoga.

I looked back through my records the past couple of months and wondered why I didn’t get more serious on a daily basis earlier. I did do a 5- and 6-day in Jan and Feb, some ADF a few weeks, but seeing how derailed I got in Nov and Dec, which crept into Jan, I see I would have been better off if I had been more diligent. The only thing to do about the past is to learn from it.

I am happy with my results on this 10-day and when I finish on the 31st, I will map out a plan for April.

Onward!

What is your profession? Curious because you are as detailed oriented as me, being a computer guy.

March 30 – Day Nine:

Sleep was not good, and although I was quite tired, it took too long to fall asleep. Today I woke up to a one-pound gain, which I figured was due to the sodium in my 2-3 glasses of electrolyte water. Then a little while later, as happened before when I upped that, I had another BM. Hmmm… It was curious, then again, I figured it was “waste” actually and the autophagy is working. The scale will reflect some of that tomorrow.

The main concern I have had the past few days is weakness and my heart seeming to work harder than it should on a walk, hence upping my electrolytes. I’m still a bit weak, but although food sounds really good, I’m okay with continuing to fast. Tomorrow is my last day anyway.

This morning my schedule was thrown off by two monkey wrenches, one of which is the kitchen sink sprung a leak and my resourceful hubby has fixed it, but I can’t use the sink until tomorrow. The house water will be turned back on this afternoon. So much for bathing the dog today. We are both glad that I heard the leak and he knew how and did fix it. :+1:

Since we are approaching a new quarter and I only have 10 days left in my 75Hard challenge, I’m thinking about new quarterly goals and how to adapt the 75Hard to new habits. I want to return to incorporating weights in my workouts again (instead of just body weight) once I start eating again. So giving myself a few days, that will be next Monday.

I finished Michael Hyatt’s Your Best Year Ever last night which reinforced and stirred me up on goals and habits. He also referred to the university study which revealed that the actual time it takes to establish a new habit is about 66 days, not 21. This is why the 75Hard challenge is that long. And now that I am nearing the end of it, I see that those daily tasks are pretty much automatic now.

As far as fasting goes, I will do a refeed and then decide when I want to do another EF. Onward! :muscle:

@Compdude I may have a few more computer skills than many folks, but I am an amateur. I have built and administered a few websites, forums, and use Word, Excel, etc. Since the internet has become much more user-friendly in recent years, it’s made it easier, although I know a little code. I am semi-retired from ministry and have an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership gifts. I tend to trouble-shoot and get inspired by new ideas a lot. I also have tended to take on too much!

March 31 – Day Ten:

The past couple of days I have struggled with weakness more than anything and I haven’t slept well in several nights. However, although I got up much earlier than usual, even tired, I have felt pretty good all day and gotten some things done.

My fast officially ends this afternoon, and I am down 13.4 pounds. Since I was keto before fasting, I don’t think there would have been much water weight. I know that since there is nothing in my stomach or digestive tract, the scale will go up some. I intend to keep a close eye on it.

Now for those fresh flowers :bouquet: and cappuccino :coffee: as my reward for the fast and for completion of another month of daily writing 750 words. :computer:
