Dianna Lee's Healing (Auto Immune: RA & Sjogren)

280.8 lbs today 1/1/2020
Debilitated with Sjogren’s and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
DESPERATELY needing to prolong fast to reset my immune system and to lose 100 lbs.
Thus far, unable to ‘just do it’. Feeling hopeless.

I understand because I was where you were in July of 2019.

My doctor had told me I had my T2 diabetes “under control” but that didn’t seem a correct assessment of my health’s reality: I had gained 20lbs in 1 year since starting daily insulin injections, my blood pressure had shot up to “hypertensive crisis” reading of 191/103 and my Chronic Kidney Disease had progressed from Stage 2 to Stage 3a. In other words, one step closer to the dialysis machine. So I said “screw it” and started to research to create my own treatment protocol.

I began on August 9th. First, I spent 14 days breaking my carb/sugar addiction. The next 14 days were Intermittent Fasting (16:8, 18:6 and 20:4), Time Restricted Eating (Starting my Eating period early in the day and stopping by 3pm) and OMAD.

Now that my fasting muscle was strong enough I did my prolonged fast in increasing length: 4 days, 5 days, 7 days and then the final boss challenge: 40 days.

When I saw the Physician’s Assistant on 12/13 to review my latest lab results I was officially declared to be “medication free”: HA1c - 5.7 on the border of normal, BP - 121/81 normal, Uric Acid - normal (no more gout/arthritis) and normal cholesterol.

Do your research. I joined this forum on Day 3 of my 40-day so you can read my journal “Alipio’s 40-Day Water Fast & Post-Fast ReFeed Journal,” Ask me questions, I’m here to help!

Btw, in case you were interested here’s the solution I found to break my carb/sugar addiction and reset my taste palate, This what started me down the rabbit hole of fasting:

Also found this on the web to give some hope:

I started the Valentine Fast Jan 26, 2020 with my last meal at 6:02 pm . I weighed myself the am of the 27th–282.6 lbs, 5’ 9 1/2" (was 5’ 11" before arthritis of the spine). I’m now on Day 2 and resisting the temptation to weigh myself; I have a history of ‘playing games’ with the scale–this time I want to ‘trust the process and enjoy the journey’ letting the scale take care of itself–as Big John, the fasting fat man said, when fasting there is nothing more to adjust, so no need to constantly weigh yourself. Besides, I want more than just weight loss. I want to feel better and regain the ease of everyday activities.I want to live and be excited about life! THIS IS MY PRAYER.
