Dee's Daily Diary Discussion

Happy to be here and I am looking forward to taking part in the forum.

I have been using water fasting to get me through my one meal a day fasting and have also used it to fast for 24-28 hours before eating. I haven’t managed to get past a 36 hour water fast though and only did that once in the last few years.

Would love to complete a full 5 day water fast but will have to build up to that one for sure.

For now I will continue with one meal a day as I am still fairly new to it.

I have lost a total of 6 stones (80 lbs) and I was juicing all day and eating one meal.
I wonder if anyone has an opinion on whether juicing breaks a fast. I don’t believe it does but haven’t researched it as a topic.

Look forward to taking part in the forum

Day One

I am currently 15 stones 10 lbs (219 lbs)

Hello, welcome to the community!
In terms of juicing I’m guessing you mean juicing fruits or vegetables? Everything that has calories in it breaks a fast, so instead of fasting, that would be called a calorie restriction! Although it doesn’t mean that it’s not beneficial for you.
As long as you feel like juicing is helping you and your journey to your goals, it might still be a good way for you to reach there.
Hope you’ll have a great day

Thanks for the info. I will use juicing (yes I did mean vegetables) to break my fast once I complete it.

Day Two
I have decided to skip my one meal today and go for a 48 hour fast, which I will break tomorrow at 10am eastern (3pm for me). Feeling great so far. As I have never gone beyond 36 hours it will be interesting to see what happens but I am in a couple of challenges and connecting with other people is really helping to keep me focused and accountable.
Weigh-in tomorrow as well, haven’t weighed myself for a couple of days so will be interesting to see what happens on the scales.

Managed to complete 48 hours which is brilliant and down 3lbs on the scales. It doesn’t sound like much but I have been staying the same or gaining a pound for months so this is brilliant.

Weigh in day tomorrow. I have stuck to OMAD and am ready to challenge myself with alternate day fasting.

I have noticed I don’t sleep well at night like I used to and am not sure if that’s linked to the fasting or not.

I have also noticed how much clarity I have and how much happier I have become. Who knew eating less would actually make me happier (once I had gotten over feeling miserable about the fact that I wasn’t eating as much!) and really improve my overall mental health.

My daughter calls me a sunflower because I love the sun and can be moody in the winter but even she made a comment about how much happier I have been in the last few weeks.
