Cora's Journey to Onderland

I have fasted most of the month of May but now I am embarking on a mission to fast until I reach Onderland. I plan on taking my weight in 7-day increments so I don’t know if it will take me 14, 21, 30,40, or whatever days to reach onderland.

I am currently doing another round of fasting with Yasemin and I decided it was about time I start my daily journal for accountability.

Stats:
Starting weight: 218lbs
Height: 5’8
Age: 21

Day 1:
I don’t really know why but I’ve been having the thought of already breaking my fast. This is insane as

  1. I literally have no physical hunger.
  2. I just started another round of fasting
  3. I have no headaches, pain, or anything.

It is like I am tempting myself into old habits for no other reason than to test if I will give in or not.

Anyway, I haven’t broken it and have set up some measures to ensure breaking it prematurely will be incredibly difficult and annoying but I thought I should add this to my journal to reflect at a later time.

Day 2:

Today has pretty much been the same as yesterday, except the thought of breaking the fast was slightly less present. To be safe, I just completely avoided the kitchen today.

Note to self: You did not enjoy the craving you currently have the last time you had it. It was way too spicy. You don’t want it.

Day 3:

Today has been good. No major cravings but I have been having a little bit of hunger. However, I know that the hunger comes in waves so I do not plan on giving in. Also, I already lost 6.2lbs.

Day 4: I am feeling great today!! No hunger or cravings.

I have however been having a lot of trouble with sleep this fast but I know that is common. Plus I’m already an insomniac, to begin with, so I can’t blame it all on the fast.

Day 5:

Really easy day. I have found a certain flow.
Additionally, I am down 10 lbs already.

Day 6:

  • I’ve had so much trouble falling and staying asleep this week and last night was the worse by far.
  • As far as hunger and cravings, none at all!
  • I’ve decided to have my small refeed today instead of tomorrow as I can’t think of anything else to get some sleep (I’ve tried melatonin, magnesium, meditation apps and still can’t sleep)

With Day 6 done, I will move on to phase 2: A 15 Day fast

Some of the changes I will make for this fast are

  1. No watching any mukbang, cooking or any type of food videos
  2. 15-30 minutes of resistance training (with light weights) and 2.5 to 3 mile walks on alternating days.

15 day fast

  • Day 1: Honestly a relatively easy day. It was vital that I only had a short refeed window so that getting started back up would be easier and it worked.
  • Day 2: Good so far. No cravings or hunger. Just a bit of boredom.

15 day Fast

  • Day 3: Took a med that did not agree with me so I had a bit of bone broth. No biggie, jumping right back in.
  • Day 4: Pretty good day so far. I need to start doing things to be busier as boredom will be my biggest enemy this fast.

15 day Fast

  • Day 5: I have been dealing with a heavy fever today and am surprised I did not break my fast. I feel like food would really be comforting right now.
  • Day 6: Still feeling crappy like yesterday. Initially, I thought it was keto flu but after more research, I’ve realized it is not. Might actually be getting sick.

  • Day 7: Going to be breaking my fast today. Some of my meds are making me really nauseous as they need to be taken with food.

So I will be restarting my 15 days fast but I don’t see this one as a failure. Maybe I would not have broken it if I hadn’t been feeling sick or maybe I would have. Either way, this fast was one step closer to onderland.
