Christina’s Water Fast Journal

1/1: day 1

My why: to feel more confident, lose the weight that I’ve slowly gained over the past decade and finally break all of my bad habits with food for good. I love the idea of wellness and fitness, but I’ve allowed myself to not be disciplined in a routine, which will stop today.

1/2: day 2

Feeling alert…usually the first couple of days of water fasts are hardest for me with being exhausted/light headed (despite having some salt) but so far so good.

Was hungry yesterday but keeping busy today and am fine so far. Excited to see what tomorrow brings!

1/3: day 3

didn’t post yesterday because i was super tired/unmotivated and almost broke my fast but didn’t. every time hunger strikes i remind myself that a) it will pass and b) the brief moments of indulgence aren’t worth it because i’ll be mad at myself immediately after.

Nice. It will get easier as you get deeper into ketosis as the ketones start suppressing Ghrelin production, aka the “hunger” hormone.

1/4: day 4

much easier today, but was also busy with errands, etc so that definitely helped to keep my mind off food. got a little light headed a few times and had some salt in the evening. may try some tea or black coffee tomorrow morning.

1/5: day 5

had a cup of vegetable broth yesterday to see how my system responded. unfortunately this means that i technically broke my water fast, however i’m still viewing myself as on track as i have not consumed any other liquids or any solids. back to 100% water.

Can’t tell you how many times I re-started but it all led to me completing a 40 day down the line.

1/7: day 7

yesterday was easier - feeling much less bloated and weighed down, but am still tired for most of the day…i’ve been taking magnesium supplements, not sure what else i should be doing.

The 1st 3 to 5 days are the hardest as your body transitions from sugar to fat burning, especially when its not used to it.

That’s the reason I have a ton of sympathy for newbies who struggle to get to the promised land because until they do they don’t get to experience the freedom from hunger and the transition symptoms.

1/8: i decided to restart from day 1 tomorrow and did a protein refeed today. the first few days were difficult during the past week because i couldn’t focus on work due to being overly tired. i’m usually fine on day 1, but 2-4 has proven to be the hump i need to get over, which is why i want those to be a sat and sun.

I hope it will be easier when doing the most difficult days over the weekend! Best of luck! :droplet::droplet:

Good decision. When I did my 1st prolonged water fast I started on a Friday because I figured the worst symptoms would happen the following day and Sunday.
