The second day got by with more struggle than the first day. I’m often motivated the first day and day 2-4 is usually where my struggle is. I’m trying to tell myself that it’s going to get easier after that and it’s just a couple of weeks of being in this, to live in a healthier body when this fast is completed!
Anna’s fast- day 2
Hey Anna! How are you doing today? I hope you are feeling strong.
The initial day 1 of my fast I went the whole day then convinced myself at the end of the day that I wanted to wait and start Nov 1 and gave in to breaking my fast. At first, I was completely “happy” with my decision, but after a few hours I felt disappointed, let down by my actions, frustrated, and feeling so so sad. After that I told myself it didn’t matter, I was going to restart. NOW, What I have decided for my fast, is that I am doing 21 days no matter what. If I fall off the wagon for any reason, I am going to dust myself off, get right back on the wagon, and finish my journey strong. I may finish my 21 days. I may be a little bumped, bruised, or scraped up at the end, but I am crossing the finish line no matter what! If you are doing a longer fast, I hope you will adopt a similar mantra and do this with me!
You are strong, you are capable. You are not alone, and you have a whole community and myself here to support you! You can do this!
I’m proud of you for not giving up, even if the animal instinct part of our brains always seeks quick fixes and instant rewards, we do have the ability to practice our couscous brains to get stronger and have a wider perspective. It’s hard but we can do this!
How are you doing with your fasting today Anna? How long are you fasting for? Night 3 was really rough for me… I felt so irritable and just needed to avoid my entire family… luckily the fiancé and teenagers are being very supportive and understanding. This morning I’m feeling a lot better, but I know tonight is going to take a lot of mental willpower and strength. It’s Halloween, we have neighbors coming over, so I have to get some food snacks and prepare some delish alcoholic beverages… making glutenvine (hot wine) and a spiked cider… plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE sugar, so so so much. It’s also reminding me that I really really need to become un-addicted to it.
Where are you located? Do you “celebrate” Halloween? We love dressing up and having fun for the holiday.
