Alyssa Daily Journal

Hello everyone!

I wish I had found this community earlier because it sounds amazing. Over the last year or so I’ve been struggling tremendously with my eating and weight. I’ve tried several times to fast but I have never succeeded (until now of course). Im determined to live a healthier lifestyle and I hope my first fast with help me regain some will power over food/ food choices.

I’m going to hold myself responsible and I hope some of you will help me along this journey as well!

I went 22 hours and then sadly caved into my food cravings and ate everything in sight :pensive:

However Im still motivated and determined to complete a full fast and get into a healthy lifestyle.

I started a 36 hour fast again which will end on the 4th. And then on Sunday I plan on doing an extended fast for 3 days (fingers crossed).

Recommend you do a 1 day refeed before doing the 3 day to make your body has recovered sufficiently enough.

I had a period of 4 straight days of failing at starting a new 7-day fast and then realized it was NOT a matter of willpower but rather that my body needed a break.

Well today’s the day!

Starting my extended 3 day fast at exactly 2:00pm!

When I started my previous fast (which lasted only 22 hours) this blog helped me stay focused and made me remember why I’m doing these fasts.

My weight is still the same at 124.4 and I’m going to be weighing myself once a day before bed. I found if I weigh myself in the morning and don’t like the results I might just jump off the band wagon right then and there.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous or felt like a failure in some way because it’s been almost a full year of me trying to loose weight and I haven’t lost anything not even a single pound. I’m hoping with me completing some sort of extended fast I’ll feel a sense of accomplishment in myself.

Water Fasting and Depression?

Hello again,

I’ve been on this weight loss journey for over a year as stated before but nothing has changed. However, over these last couple of days I’ve found the reason why.

For over a year I’ve struggled with depression, but only recently have I’ve come to that realization. I was too ashamed and scared to admit it to myself (as well as others) due to the stigma surrounded by mental health. However, I’m tired of being tired, and sluggish, and unhappy. And with advice and support from my doctor, he himself has advised me to take a step into fasting.

Studies have shown that fasting can take the same effect as antidepressants, who knew? I’ve read thousands of times that fasting can lead to mental clarity, but I never understood what that meant till now.

So for this journey that I’m taking I’m not solely going to focus on my weight loss, but also on my mental health and my mood changes throughout the days.

I’m interested in seeing the effects this has on my body and mind. I guess we will see tomorrow if I feel any different clarity wise.

I’m in a rut myself too. Feeling depressed and all that… feeling tired from feeling tired. I am with you on this one.
