January 11th, 2020 Saturday
Where to start, I’m 32 years old and a stay at home mom to my 4 kids. Been with my hubby for over 13 years now. I’m 30 pounds heavier now than when we first got married. Trying to balance life with 4 kids, while still finding time for my health and fitness goals sometimes seems impossible! I have to come up with a new game plan that fits my life. I started fasting today at 7:30pm and I intend to do 72 hours. It’s late so I will get sleep and check in tomorrow!
Alexis' Journey to lose the baby weight
Welcome to our fasting community. Are you the same Alexis that I corresponded with on FB on getting permission to use your name in a story for my book?
It can be a struggle to balance all of it! But we’re here to support you to get to where you want to be for your own health and well-being!
Yes it’s the same Alexis
Thank you Anna, I’m definitely struggling.
Still trying to figure out how this site works too
I just made a commitment to myself to go 3 weeks with zero alchohol. I often over eat when I consume alchohol and I need to train myself to deal with boredom in healthier ways.
I really want to start eating keto but I’m afraid if my family won’t commit to doing it with me than I’m setting myself up for failure!
I have a hard time skipping breakfast because I’m hooked on caffeine and black coffee is just boring and a little gross to me. If not for my caffeine dependency I’d be able to skip breakfast no problem. I need to come up with a solution to this.

Kudos on having a goal of going dry for 3 weeks. It’s a recognition of one your “triggers” and taking care of it right off the bat.

For myself, I follow the principles of keto but don’t follow it strictly because I believe “simple is sustainable.” What I do is stay away from reprocessed carbs and sugars. I do eat carbs but only those with fiber such as potatoes. I’ve pretty much have maintained this way of eating since Aug 9th of last year.

As for the breakfast issues. One of the 4 research scientists I based my original treatment protocol on is Dr Saatchin Panda of the Salk Institute in San Diego, CA. He’s one of the experts on Circadian Rhythm. From his research, he found that our bodies are most insulin sensitive in the morning and that around 2 hours before bedtime the brain will tell the body to start shutting down insulin production before we go to sleep.
In practical terms, I start my feeding window as early in the morning as possible and not eat anything beyond 3pm. Would that better fit your needs? Here’s a short interview with Dr Panda:
Hope it helps!
