40 days fast Type One Diabetic

Good going Milla.
I just finished a 7 day fast today.
Your suggestion about going away to do a long fast has got me thinking… a couple of years ago I bought a small block of land 2 hours out of the city with the intention of building on it. I might just go and camp there for a couple of weeks.

Diff, that would be wonderful! I just imagined it and it sounds awesome!

I am getting ready for Thanksgiving, not too big of a deal in our family, but my older daughter wants mashed potatoes and kotlety, Russian meat dish made from ground beef and pork… Another daughter wants apple pie, mashed potatoes and turkey, and husband wants a merengue cake, olivie and vinegret, two Russian salads… so… grocery list. Olivie has potatoes, carrots, meat, eggs, pickles, cut in cubes, peas and mayo
Vinegret has baked beets, potatoes, carrots, pickled cabbage, onions, peas and olive oil. It is all needs to be cooked and cut in small cubes. I will attempt to fulfill all wishes, but kids will have to do all cutting!!
A bit a drag to cook and not to taste, but it is nothing new, because I couldn’t eat any carbs anyways long before the fast, everything, except kotlety and turkey would be out of question. I haven’t had potatoes since 2008!

So, a few things happened during last couple of days, one of them was a result of me breaking a fast.
Which is ok. I had to take pain medications
It is bad bad for stomach without food… I am not a fanatic, i know, life intervenes and you must listen to this. So two days of taking pain medication for my injury i feel was enough. Now i think i can solder through without it. I am starting again this morning. Last time i ate was yesterday. Let’s do it!
New date to get out of fast is January 5th. If I end up only making it to a New year’s day, I will be happy as well. In fact, I will be happy regardless. I will just choose to do my best and my best should be enough for me to be happy.
And any improvement and any small step towards your goal is a movement in right direction.
The desire to live and to be happy is a huge benefit of fasting and this, itself, must be one single huge gift to the world

I was lucky to have my pancreas to recover enough to be able gradually to get off all insulin. This is the most dangerous part for diabetics on insulin, the quantity of long insulin to inject by trying to predict your need in insulin for the next 24 hours…
