30 Day Water Fast Journal

I have been reading the forum for the last couple weeks in anticipation of starting my first “longer” fast. It has given me more confidence reading some of the other journals and success stories. Here are my stats, background, and plan:

33 year old male
309 lbs

I have done water fasts in the past but never more than 3 days. I am determined this time to break that cycle and make it through the initial difficult period!

For supplements I will be taking a daily multi, salt when necessary, and a keto/electrolyte supplement to help as well.

My reasoning for the water fast is obviously weight loss, but also break some bad eating habits that have developed over the last few years. I plan to post once a day and keep an update of how it goes. Today was day 1.

Day 2

Pretty standard operating procedure so far. Not much hunger other than a few minutes around 5pm. Very very minimal headache throughout the day. Multi and keto/electrolyte supplement taken around 2pm. Other than that it’s been about 2L of water so far. Feeling good and looking forward to getting to day 3.

Hi @FastForward! I’m on Day 1 of my fast - 11 hours. I’m at 133 pounds. I need to lose 13 pounds in the next 3 weeks, as well as detox, so I’ve decided to try and start a water fast AGAIN.

How is everyone feeling? I’m hoping that joining this forum will help me stay on the wagon.

Day 3

Still feeling pretty good. Maybe some slight light headedness and minor stomach discomfort for a few minutes during the day. Hunger has been minimal thus far which I assume is from a background of doing some 2-3 day fasts. Technically I started at 10pm on Sunday night so approaching that 3 day point now. I have never have made it past 3 days before so this will be a little more interesting as of tomorrow morning.

I am going to try not to weigh myself much during the 30 days. In the past short term fastsI weigh in and see 7-10 lbs of weight loss and start to feel good about myself and my ability to lose the weight just dieting (which doesn’t work for me). So on this one, I probably will only weigh in once a week or so. Ideally I would love to not weigh in at all until the end, but I don’t think I have that willpower!

Day 4

Today was a very different feeling than the past 3. In the morning I had quite a bit of light headedness and overall feeling of being tired. Even driving home around 3pm I was almost falling asleep. I am going to increase electrolytes and hope that helps. Hunger is back pretty strong mid day and into right now. Going to continue going strong. This is the first time I have ever gotten to day 4. Day 5 tomorrow right around the corner.

Congrats on reaching a new milestone. Reminds me when I completed a 5-day fast as that was my longest at the time.

Are you joing the March fast?

Yes, but later on March 17th for my 2nd 21-day fast. I’m still in the middle of my Core & Endurance workout program to build my body up for the upcoming fast.
