2nd Annual “March Madness” Fasting Challenge

Perfect! And so true! I think that was what was at the heart of my recent self destructive episode; I had been reducing weight well with fasting and the second I’d start feasting i’d put almost all back on again and I think my brain was just like “what’s the point!” Well not this time! I am aware of that being a potential trigger and have strategies to help me not sabotage my efforts. I think what you’ve touched on here is so important to remember. Fasting is not just the physical aspects and impact but a total mind, body, spiritual tool in healing. I am so proud to hear of your successes so far and look forward to watching your journey

Thank you!! You’re completely right. I feel much better today. No headache, slept like a baby, the only thing that is not back to normal is my back, but it’s okay, it’ll get better soon.

Reading through everyone’s updates make me feel so proud of everyone. I’m very sad and disappointed I had to stop. I know I had to listen to my body and my dr but this was the first time I actually believed I had this. So instead of sitting in my self pity. I’m going to move on and jump back into it with you guys.

Happy Sunday everyone!
Day 7, i wanna be real, not gonna lie, this is hard!
Longest I’ve fasted before was 11 days.
Yesterday, i went out shopping with my Mom to get busy and also, spend time with her.
And i was so dizzy. I had to sit down.
I’ve been taking my supplements and electrolytes.
But i managed, got through the day! Whew!

It’s an absolute mental challenge.
Mind over matter!
I wish it was the 14th day already lol.
12 lbs down, 38 more to go.
Could use some cheering on and some encouragement!
12 more hours and Day 7 is done.
So help me God.

What I admire most is when people on a fasting journey listen to their bodies and give it what it needs when it needs it. Not powering through when their bodies indicate otherwise. After all, that’s one of the goals isn’t it? To tune into our bodies’ wisdom as to what they need and what true hunger is? What you did was healthy and it’s what I and so many others are trying to re-learn how to do.
You’re doing great! Honor your body when it needs something and hop back on the bus!

Congratulations on 7 days!! Ups and downs are normal as you know. Maybe think about something that you could do that is a little indulgent and self-loving? A pedicure or a massage? Whatever makes you feel pampered and beautiful!!! You’re doing great!

OH EM GEE!! We are all just about done with our first week everyone! Except for @Miri, we are eating her dust! LOL!! I’m proud everyone! I’m proud of people who have taken little breaks and are hopping back on the bus. None of us are perfect and we are all in this together!
I have personally broken my record today. We all should hug ourselves and do something nice for ourselves! Thanks for all of the support you guys!

Thanks for sharing, @Melanie_Jean_Planck!

Sounds like a tough day-- so hard to focus on commitment when the body is in pain and feeling weak. I admire your tenacity!

Keep it up, you got this!

Hope everyone is doing well today! Lots of respect for all of you crossing the 1 week mark-- amazing! And for those that are listening to their bodies, even more respect. The connection and commitment to our bodies and well-being is a huge motivator for me for this month.

To be clear on my goals this month, I’d love to do a 21 day fast, ending on March 27 (the birthday of my boyfriend who passed away 4 years ago). So I am just getting started. This fast is about healing and integration, both physically and emotionally. I’m not sure yet if I will push through for 21 days, or if I will break it up into three 7-day fasts with refeeds in between-- I am very interested in healing, and a bit intimidated about the prospect of fasting over one week messing with my hormones and metabolism in the long-term. Anyone here that’s done long-term fasting before have a perspective on this?

Thanks all, and happy Sunday!

I got inspired by going through the updates of everyone out there…
I’m planning to start a 7day water only fast right from Today…
Scared a little bit as my CPA Final Exams are around and I have to study for atleast for 14hours… Don’t want to compromise my study hours though even for a single day….
But at the same time I want to fast :exploding_head::exploding_head:

Suggestions and Supports will be appreciated :pray::pray:

I’ve been a little bit MIA having just started my new job, but I just went back and read through everyone’s comments and I’m so proud of the support!! You guys are amazing! And to the people who had to end, YOU ARE ALSO AMAZING. You’re amazing for fasting and you’re amazing for treating your body right and listening to what it needs.

I’m still with you guys! This is lucky day number 7 and I’m feeling awesome! I can no longer drink coffee because it literally makes me feel like I’m on speed, so that sucks :joy: but I’m literally every other way I feel incredible and ready to kick the rest of this months ass!!!

I wanted to ask you guys:

If you’re on day six/seven or more, what are some changes you’ve noticed that you’re excited about?? They can me either mental or physical. I’ll post mine below:

-almost complete loss of hunger
-clothing fitting more comfortably
-boobs are slightly smaller (a great thing in my book)
-scale consistently going down
-depression getting better
-skin clearing up
