Hi everyone! Not too familiar with using forums and such, but I want to have this option for support. Today was Day 1 of water only and it went well. I prepped by eating clean, 18:6 feeding schedule, lost 7 pounds already over those 5 days. I have quite a lot to lose but figured I would keep my target as 21 days since it is my first water fast. A friend recommended tools to monitor vitals and thanks to Covid, I have an ideal schedule to take things easy and relax while I ride this adventure out. Already, I noticed a recent injury is not as stiff as it was, while eating my standard way, which is an encouraging surprise. Most of my motivational mottos and strategies are taped to my closet door, so I won’t type those out here right now. My main hopes are to find clarity so I can start living my best life and look like a closer approximation to what I did before I forgot who I was.

Ok, starting day 6 and last night I was having some rather uncomfortable muscle aches all over. Other than that the only struggles I’ve had are trying to remember to drink enough water. I have lost 14lbs so far, including the 5 days I was cleaning up my diet in preparation. My vitals seem to be good and I’ve had plenty of rest. I spent my downtime watching videos and researching water fasting testimonials online. I was a compulsive eater and have to avert my eyes whenever I see something tempting in the store or on tv. Although I want to focus more on making over my thoughts, old habits die hard and it’s much easier to get caught up in calculating weight loss possibilities and checking out mentally than working on more demanding subjects. I have identified some key issues to work on, however. Kudos to everyone working full time and managing a family. You all have great dedication!
Well, 6 days left of my 21 day fast. I think my goal was spot-on because I have hardly had energy for anything this whole time and I have been thinking about food. (I honestly was expecting an INCREASE in energy! And why do I want Chinese food so badly??? I hardly ever eat that.). I had 2 kinds of bottled spring water to drink and for some reason I can hardly stand one of them now. The mineral contents are very different, so I must be sensitive to the more “richly” mineralized one. It makes me want to vomit, and I can hardly consume even a fraction of my water goal without nausea. Sleeping all day makes drinking challenging, too.
Now I’m trying to plan how I will break my fast and what will help me to continue to lose weight in the coming months. The riots on tv have been a nice distraction. I lost about 22 pounds so far. I want to have another DEXA scan to get exact numbers on fat lost and am seriously thinking about purchasing a Vitamix so I can enjoy lots of soups after my fast. A friend of mine is Vegan/no oil, which sounds like something I might try to be mindful of, going forward. To be honest, I’m hopeful to see at least one more “cleansing event” by the time I break my fast. I didn’t have major health issues to heal, so the cleansing and weight loss are the most tangible evidence I have that this experiment went well.
