21 day Water Fast Journal

I’m starting a 21 day water fast its just past midnight and is the first day. I’m planning to update every day or so. I plan to take it easy the first week then if I feel up to it maybe get in some cardio or weight lifting. I already do those things in my daily routine and although I know I cant gain muscle during a fast I do enjoy going to the gym and the stress relief it brings me. My plan after the fast is to obviously do a refeed then enjoy the holidays in moderation. I plan to see where I am then possibly do a 30 day fast in January. For reference, I’m 5’6" and 190lbs my goal weight and what would be a healthy BMI is 130 so that’s a good 60lbs of fat to get rid of.

Good luck , You can do it :muscle:t3:
I’m on day one of 3 days water fast …

Monitor your fatigue levels. You may need to reduce your workouts as fasting by its nature is stressful.

End of day 2 I’m not really hungry but I want food. I know it’s all mental and I’m not going to give in but finding ways to distract myself has gotten hard, but other than that I feel pretty good.

Day 4 I’m feeling good today but yesterday was hell. Pumpkin pie and pizza that’s what my family ate. I just had to keep reminding myself That I can eat what I want after my fast and that I’m doing this to get healthier and feel better. My hunger usually goes away between day 5 and 6 so I know that if i can stick it out till then I’ll be in the clear and the rest of the 21 days will be hopefully easier. This is the longest fast I’ve done previously I’ve only gone up to 6 days and I’m excited to see what happens. My mom is really supportive but my sister understands nothing and seeing as how she’s older than me she thinks I’ma dumb child. So that does make this harder but I’m pushing through.

I’m glad your mom is supporting you! Hang in there, like you said, it’s going to get a lot easier by time! :muscle:

When I started the ONLY person I confided in was my Pastor. We kept it quiet until I started showing results. Just keep imagining the look on your older sister’s face when you start showing results.

There’s often not much company on the journey to health. But Your will power and mother’s support will be enough. You got this!!

Sadly had to cut my water fast short it ended up only being 5 days. I have never liked the taste of water and even when I’m not fasting I always hate the way it makes my stomach feel unless I’m eating something while drinking my water. I just end up choking it down. I did my best to get a good amount of water in but it was really hard and I was getting quite dehydrated. So I decided to refeed so I could get rehydrated (I would have just stopped the water fast and started a broth fast but I don’t have broth or what i need to make it). I’ll probably take a few days off and do omad then get some broth and do a broth fast until the 22 which was my original end date. This way i can get some hydration in me without absolutely hating my life. Also I am well aware that the fact that i hate water and the fact that i don’t like how it sits in my stomach fasting or not is fairly odd and probably doesn’t make much logical sense due to the fact that biologically we need water but my god I absolutely hate it.

I’ve felt like pure water makes me feel a bit weird in the stomach as well while fasting (I don’t have that problem otherwise). I’ve heard that when the water fills the stomach and adds pressure, it triggers the production of more stomach acid (even if there is no food).
I’ve experienced many fasts when I started throwing up a lot when I drank pure water, but when I started to add minerals every time I fasted, that problem went away.
Maybe it could be related to the quality of the water too? Not sure!

No matter what the problem is, I’m glad you didn’t make yourself suffer more from it, it’s better to find a solution for you that makes you feel good and be able to reach your goals!

Hope you feel better!

Everyone must find their own path that makes sense for their situation. It’s always a feel your way to find what fits you.

That’s okay. You did What you could. I suggest getting used to water when eating normally before trying to do a water fast. Or consider a bone broth fast instead. Good luck. Keep pushing.
