Hi April Fasters!

This is Ashley checking in last night at about 5 ended by 8 day fast!!:star_struck:

I made it 8 days on my fast which is the longest Iโ€™ve ever gone!! I plan to stick with Keto, do more 1-3 day fasts the rest of the month and possibly another 7 day towards the end of the month. During the 8 days of the fast lost about 10lbs and after my refeed last night was up about 2 lbs. I had some bone broth, kimchi, avocado and some macadamia nuts over the course of a few hours. I would assume that is pretty common to gain that back due to water weight?? Is it best to eat for a couple days then jump back into a fast or start fasting again? I have read and watched different podcasts with so many different opinions just curious what you novice fasters have to say??

A little bit about myself I live in beautiful San Diego Iโ€™m 35, 5โ€™4โ€™โ€™, weight 145 lbs. Since Iโ€™m an Esthetician I am currently out of work due to CoVid-19 stay home distancing measures, so trying to utilize this time wisely and dive into fasting. I enjoy nature, working out, my dog, friends and family! I have completed several half marathons all over the US and plan to due more. But running is so much easier when you are at a healthy weight obviously haha so thatโ€™s why I really want to shed some lbs. I have always struggled with weight fluctuations and food addiction so I hope incorporating fasting into my lifestyle will help overcome my strongholds.

I loved reading Dr. Fungโ€™s book The Complete Guide To Fasting and listening to all different fasting podcasts. If anyone has any recommendations on what they like to read or listen to please let me know๐Ÿค—. So interesting how something so simple can be so beneficial to you overall health! Fasting is definitely helping me thus far and I have about 10 more lbs to go to get to my healthy goal weight.

Yes, its common to regain water weight back. Its a healthy process as the body rebuild its glycogen stores depleted during a fast. Its those stores that keep your body fed at night and supply the energy for your half-marathons.

The rule of thumb for refeed length is half the time of the length of the fast. I tried to shorten that time after my last fast and regretted it.

Hope this helps!
