When I’m fasting, the most important thing is to distract myself in order to not give up my fast.
- Writing stories/poems/etc.
- Smelling something like parfume/deodorant/soap/herbs/spices (it may sound weird but it helps and is kinda like aromatherapy)
- listening to music (everything I like from dance music to meditation- and yoga music)
- dancing (when I have the energy during my fast)
- gentle yoga flow
- tidy up my room
- deleting unnecessary files from my computer or smartphone
- drinking herbal tea
- writing down positive affirmations to motivate myself to remain on track and to never give up (e.g. “I’m doing this for myself”, “I’m doing this for my health”, “I deserve health just like everyone else”)
- watching YouTube videos or shows and movies on Netflix (I always try to keep it positive. I avoid the negative stuff.)
- Meditate (even if it’s just for five minutes)
- reading positive instagram post for my inner growth (fasting is also helpful for mental health and spiritual growth)
- reading about/listening to stuff I’m interested in (for me it’s nutrition and health)
- I’m imagining what happens in my body while I’m fasting and how happy my organs are when I’m only drinking water and how they finally get some time to heal
- drawing (I don’t really draw that often because right now I rather study for my final exams. If I would start drawing it would take hours or even days to finish it but when I’m done with school I’d love to start drawing again)
