15 Day Water Fast Intro

I’ve been restarting day 1 for what feels like forever now, always just breaking after a few days. :woman_facepalming:t3: My longest fast earlier in the year was for 6 days (had wanted to straight up do 30!), so I aiming for 15 this time, half of what I wish I could do . If I can do longer I will, it will just depend when I need to break it for social reasons (my partner and I are moving countries and my African mother in law will not understand or forgive me if I don’t eat her cooking before I go!).
My main reason is weight loss due to gaining weight after knee surgery and medications, but also to help with healing injuries, to get some self control, and just the overall health benefits. I’m going back to Thailand to return to training (I used to be a fighter), and whilst I’m not gonna walk into the gym fighting fit, at least I can be a bit less chubby (hopefully!). After the fast I will continue with OMAD, probably not keto though, I will experiment and monitor my energy levels during training to see what I need to eat to perform well. My one meal will be between my morning and afternoon training sessions to recover from my first training and refuel for my second training session. I never ate before morning training anyway, so I think I can do it, I just need to stay strong at nights! I will also aim to fast for 48 hours each weekend too.
I actually meant to start yesterday and then my partner turned up with a special dinner he’d bought us, not knowing I’d started yet again. Then today I messed up without even thinking. I could start again tonight, but I’d prefer to start a new day. So tomorrow is Day 1 yet again!!
I’m really happy to have this journal and group for accountability! So comment away!

Hi Mich,

Yeah, it’s good to have this. It can feel isolated, even lonely, not having other like-minded people around. So how’s it going this time so far? Good luck with it. I’m on day two of a 14 day fast, but may go to 21 if I feel OK at the end of the 14.

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi! So I am just starting day 2 today, but so far so good. I think I wasn’t motivated enough or mentally prepared enough just saying I’d do it but then breaking it with just a bite of something here and there and then thinking ‘its ok, I’ll start tomorrow’. But this time I want to really do it and be serious and strict. Although in saying that I am doing a ‘dirty water fast’, I can’t give up food and caffeine! So I will have black coffee. Yes I wanted 30 days, then thought 21, but now I have kept breaking and starting much later than I wanted I think I can’t do 21 with social plans and when I plan to return to Thailand to start training. But if I can I will!

So how is it going for you? Lets keep each other motivated seeing as we are starting just a day apart, both wanting 14/15 days with the possibility of longer!

Keep in mind your schedule and work with it in mind. I first built up my “fasting muscle” by doing 16:8, then 20:4, then OMAD for 2 weeks. Then I did a 4-day, 7-day and 5-day. Took a 9-day ReFeed break before tackling my current 40-day water fast. Currently on Day 19.

Yeah. Great! Day two is half way to day three, and after day three, things should settle down a little. I’m four hours in to day four, and feeling a hell of a lot calmer than I was feeling yesterday. I think the worst is over for me. Keep at it and good luck!

That’s great! You too!

You can do it. Take it one day at a time :muscle:

Hi Mich,

How’s it going? Hope you’re good.

Dave.

Hi Mich,

hey, if you’ve fallen off the wagon, just pick yourself up, dust yourself down, and have another crack sometime.

Good luck to ya,

Dave.

Hey! Actually, I was kind of forced to fall of the wagon, I found out I’m pregnant! Fasting during pregnancy is obviously a big no, so…it will have to wait 9 months or so! But thanks for checking in! How are you going with it?!

Congratulations! :tada: Can’t think of a better reason for falling off the wagon! Good luck!:clap::clap:

AS long as you don’t give up, you will get there! I know being in a relationship is different and harder to fast but you will succeed! I felt like I restarted on day 1 for two months straight then I finally committed to 14 days and just recently finished a few days ago. I’m already tired of food and back to fasting. Its funny how you really miss food when you start fasting but then when you start eating, food loses interest and you want to get back to fasting again.
