Naomi's Daily Journal - 21 Day Fast, March 2020 Challenge

Good job in adjusting your fasting schedule. The key is finding the right combos that will make it sustainable over the long term. For example, during my workout phases I switch to A.F. With 600 calories during fast day and unrestricted on feast day. Underlying principles is time restricted eating and all meals low carb (not Keto).

Thanks! After I ate it, I felt satiated and full! Normally I’d be fiending for some sugar, but it definitely hit the spot!

Day 9 (for the sake of this month’s day-to-day tracking)
Day 1 - Back on 96 hour for the week - 24.5 hours in now

4:51 pm - Hey all. So I have been gone a whole day off this journal, but I feel like it’s been WAY long! Sorry about that. So just wanted to give an update on my plan this week. I plan on doing another 4-5 day fast, hopefully a 96 at the minimum. I am currently 24.5 hours in. Today was not too bad, considering I started over again on the fasting. Yesterday was a bit of a relaxed food day for me, so I indulged a bit in some breakfast foods (my period cravings kicking in) so I definitely did NOT keep OMAD or Keto. Surprisingly this morning I felt pretty good and not too bloated. I’m feeling pretty good at the moment too. Going to go for a walk after work, drink my carbonated water, then head to sleep! We’ll chat with you all tomorrow! I’m going to try to post some photos for motivation at some point this week (hopefully I’ll remember lol).

Happy Monday everyone! You got it this week!

Day 10 (for the sake of this month’s day-to-day tracking)
Day 2 - Back on 96 hour for the week - 37 hours in now

Tuesday - 5:13 am - Good morning everyone. Back on day 2, 37 hours in. I feel pretty good. Just finished a morning workout at the gym. Did some deadlifts, misc back workout, 20 mins of stairclimber, and 25 mins of walking. My hunger cravings aren’t that strong right now, even with my husband cooking some bacon and eggs as I speak :stuck_out_tongue: I’m hoping the day goes by quickly…one day closer to the weekend. We plan on cooking big steaks, potatoes, and veggies for our weekend meal. I plan on starting OMAD on Thursday though, but hopefully I can last unil Friday. Take it day at a time.

I’ll update after the end of the day walk. Thanks for reading!

Awesome! How are ya feeling after you broke your fast? Thumbs up to the 4-5 day fasts! They’re definitely more manageable, yet still long enough to test our discipline and produce positive effects on the body!

Thanks! I agree with you, finding something that is sustainable over the long term. Today is my 3rd day, I’m at about 61 hours and I definitely find this 4-5 day fast more sustainable and manageable, yet still challenging and producing enough positive effects on the body.

A.F w/ 600 calories sounds like a good idea too, especially during your workout phases! How long do you think you will continue this regiment.

I appreciate the comment and support!

I enjoyed catching up and reading through your journal posts! Great achievements so far! It’s all a journey with ups and downs but you’re showing that you are dedicated to this positive change and I know you’ll get to where you want to be! :muscle:

Thanks Anna! I appreciate it! Yes, this journey does has its ups and downs, but as long as we try our best to stay on track then that’s all we can do!

Day 11 (for the sake of this month’s day-to-day tracking)
Day 3 - Back on 96 hour for the week - 73 hours in now

5:22 pm - Wow! Today has been a productive day. Got to the gym this morning, worked out with some weights and did some cardio. I felt REALLY good afterwards and wasn’t even hungry! It wasn’t until around noon where I started to feel RAGING hunger! Right after work, we ended up walking for about 45 minutes in hopes that will exhaust me and divert my attention to sleep afterwards. It kind of helped. I’m ready to go to bed for the night. I’m really tired! Even during my walk I felt tired and weak. Hopefully I don’t wake up tossing and turning in the middle of the night though. Took some magnesium to help with that. I’m ready to break my fast tomorrow.

I will post an update tomorrow. Goodnight.

I shoot for 30-day workout phases. That’s based on my experience as a former CPT (Certified Personal Trainer).

Hi, I broke my fast after 8 and a half days so haven’t started another yet. That was 2 days ago. I might start tomorrow. Not feeling great but unfortunately, that’s my normal. I’m happy I managed 8 days. Let’s keep going. I might start after dinner.

Nice! That sounds like a good amount of time to see results :muscle:t4:

Wow, 8 days! That’s way more than I can do. Great job! Why don’t you feel good?

Day 12 (for the sake of this month’s day-to-day tracking)
Day 4 -Back on 96 hour for the week - broke my fast at 85.5 hours

12:30 Pm - So I woke up last night because of so much hunger. I had a hard time going back to sleep and just felt like crap when I woke. Didn’t even workout this morning. Felt the heart palpitations again, so I broke my fast about 11 hours shy of full 4 days. I don’t feel too disappointed in myself, cause I been pretty active my fasting days so even with my salt water, I guess it was just a matter of time I “cracked”. I broke it with breakfast, eating:

8 egg whites & 2 whole eggs
Veggies
2 bacon strips
Some steak strips

Then now, for lunch, I have:

Salad
5 pieces of steak strips
2 cheese sticks
Carbonated water
4 small pieces of chicken

So I’m feeling better now. Maybe tonight I will attempt a 48…or may just do OMAD. We’ll see. Chat later!

EDIT: Sooo, I ended up eating dinner, which was not healthy at all. I had half a lenny’s cookie, and a CRAP TON of corn flakes…like a lot…prolly like 800 worth! I was just snacking away. So I felt really disappointed in myself, just mindlessly noshing away. But oh well, I just moved on and started another fast.

Hi nayohme,
I don’t feel great because I am ill. I suffer with M.e/ chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, ibs, ehler danlos/ hypermobility syndrome, hiatus hernia and some others. There is no cure for the above conditions. I am just managing it as best as I can. I am housebound 90% of the time and also bedbound.
I didn’t mean to sound negative when I said I don’t feel good it’s basically because I don’t get the extra energy that others gets when fasting etc. But I have a strong mind and I am determined so I will continue my journey. I will probably restart longer fast by weekend and do I.F for a couple more days.

Keep going you are doing well and I am sure we will achieve some positives this year.

Oh, I am really sorry to hear about your conditions. I really hope that fasting can help you as you continue to do it! I don’t always really feel energized. For the most part, I think majority of the time I am low energy. I think it’s cause I’m low iron too. Like you said, it’s something I just try to manage and live with so I don’t even think twice about it a lot of times. How was your restart this weekend?

Day 13 & 14 (for the sake of this month’s day-to-day tracking)
Day 2 of a 48 - Broke my previous 96, started another 48…at 37 hours now

Hi all. So I ended up eating like crap 2 days ago. I mean the day I ate well, but when I got home… I ate like a TON of corn flakes. Prolly like 800 calories worth! Just mindlessly noshing away. Then had half a lenny’s cookie and some crackers. I felt bad, but decided to start a 48 hour fast after that. Right now I’m at hour 37. I’m doing pretty well…although it’s Saturday, and my husband is cooking a ton of BBQ meat and pancit, so I’m sure I will break it a little early. I couldn’t sleep well at all because I was pretty hungry. Sucks because It was only one night I was fasting, and I was already having interrupted sleep. I think it’s my mentality though…knowing that the weekend is here, and I can be a little more flexible with what I eat, I get excited and can’t sleep well. Cause so far, when I’ve done the 96 hour fasts throughout the work week, I don’t have issues with sleep until like the 3rd night.

I been keeping up with my workout routine though. Been doing some cardio, weightlifting, and walking as normal. I think I’m getting some okay results, but I hope I can keep it up for the remainder of the month. This weekend I’ll be more relaxed on what I’m gonna eat, then Sunday night I’ll get back into another 96.

Hope all is well with you all! Keep up with the fasting! Even if you had a little binge out like me…get back on it!

Any lumpia with the pancit and BBQ?

I wish! It’s too hard to make with our limited supplies  but maybe next weekend we’ll make some adobo :yum:

I’m “Americanized” meaning I was born and raised in the U.S. so I only like lumpia and pancit. A lot of my relatives love adobo; unfortunately, I’m not one of them.
