Mj’s 21 day water fast

Usually I do take electrolytes (salt, potassium and magnesium) but I have opted to skip them this time and see how if effects my fast. So far, so good.

I too take Himalayan salt and potassium and do epsom salt foot bath. But, this time I was thinking of adding B vitamins as well. In the past I have experienced a lot of hair loss after fasting a while. This time I was hoping to avoid that. It may interfere with autophagy, but shouldn’t have a big impact on weightloss (I hope).

Day 9 - September 23

Today was very hard, had it been a rest day it would’ve been a lot easier as my energy was only slightly below average but I had to go to work. My job is extremely physical, most people are surprised to hear I work such a manually hard job seeing as I’m a tiny 18 year old girl. Luckily I don’t work Thursday’s so tomorrow will let me relax a bit. Hunger wasn’t bad until late but those are just mental cravings. Check in tomorrow!

Daily affirmation
I have made it this far, I can push through to the end and see prove to myself that I am strong and successful

why you think it will interfear with autophagy? also isnt niacin and biotin for hair?

do you ever drink stevia zero cal drinks to take away the cravings?

During my water fast I do not drink any artificial sweetener, only water and unsweetened tea

Day 10 - September 24

Today wasn’t the best. I was very tired and nauseous almost all day and I’m still not feeling the greatest at the end of the day. My hunger wasn’t an issue just the low energy and nausea. Luckily I didn’t have much to do so I was able to rest, hoping tomorrow will be better and I can get some good sleep.

Daily affirmation
I am able to take things one day at a time, I can and will reach my goals. I made a promise to myself and I will keep it, I am powerful and strong and I can get through this even when it’s hard

They say autophagy is very sensitive and it will turn off even if a little protein is digested. I don’t think my tablets have it. But, it is still some calories. So, it isn’t a clean water fast.

And by B vitamins, I meant B multivitamin. It contains Biotin, Niacin, B3, B5, etc.

You can try taking some some zero cal/low cal pickle juice. The acidity helps with the nausea sometimes. It also has salt so helps with electrolytes.

Day 11 - September 25

Today had its ups and down, I had a very brief spike of energy as was able to do a short workout but other than that I was pretty down. My mental strength is being tested hard, my cravings for sweets are so intense but I know I can beat it. Hoping tomorrow will be easier but hey, nobody said this would be easy. Check back in tomorrow!

Daily affirmation
I am not controlled by food, every time I keep going I win and my food addiction loses. I am killing it one bit at a time, I can and will overcome it and reach my goals.

Day 12 - September 26

Today was much better than the past couple days. I was able to workout quite a bit and run some errands. My hunger wasn’t bad at all however I did have a bit of a crash around 3-5 pm but I bounced back. Other than that not much to say about today so I’ll check back in tomorrow.

Daily affirmation
Every day I am closer to my goal. I am over half of the way there, I can and will make it the rest of the way. I just have to take it one day at a time.

Update

So I stopped logging my fast, not sure if anyone noticed but I did end my fast early. I’m disappointed in myself, but I’ve suffered a very sudden loss in my family. My energy was low, every day was getting harder and I needed to be there for my family and truthfully, I was very sensitive, and it just didn’t seem like the right time to continue. I tried to do a good refeed but after a couple days I fell into the trap of binge eating. I’m still grieving, I’m not sure if I’m ready to try again but I want to. I will be starting a 14 day fast today. I’m hoping now that all the responsibilities are over, and I’ll have some time to myself I can do it. I’m starting a new topic for my new fast, a fresh start. Thank you to everyone who interacted with me on this topic, I made it to 14 days and I’m proud of that.

in some situations it’s better to stop. sorry to hear about your loss. 14 days is an achievement and you should be proud of it! Good luck on the next journey!
