Miko's fasting: Day 2

Thank you for the info. That probably was one of the causes of the Keto Mouth horror I experienced deep into my last fast. Nice to have another researcher on board to share info with! :star_struck:

Day 11

C.W: 63.5 Kg ((((( Officially a normal BMI :tada:)))))

Feeling sooo happy. After a weight plateau I have lost another Kg :grinning:

And the fact is that things are being pretty easy at this point. With the supplements and the positive mindset, I’d say it is like sew and sing. The only drawback actually is that I’m missing food. Not that I feel hungry, because I don’t feel it, but sharing moments with family, eating, or going out and eat with husband, this I miss.

It might be that today again I was surrounded by food at work again, and husband prepared a delicious couscous ( Moroccan food is my weakness… ). I had to test an spoon of its broth. I couldn’t resist :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Tomorrow, I’m planning to have a lymphatic drainage massage as I have read it helps to detox the body exactly when you are fasting and burning fat :massage_woman:t2::sparkling_heart: Let’s see how it goes!

Current status:

Mind: Fine
Body: Doing well
Spirit: Feeling great

Nothing else to add for today. It was a boring day really. No much work at office, however, I have to say that walking outside office and seeing golden fishes was very relaxing :fish:

Wishing you a wonderful day and happy fasting! :four_leaf_clover:

I can add you to the list of “successful fasters” who made goal.

Looking forward to your thoughts after your lymphatic drainage massage experience.

Thank you @Compdude and @Anna for reading me and encouraging me. Feel so glad that I have you there on the other side of the screen.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I would need an explanation on today’s C.W. It’s back again to 64… this means 500 grams weight gain, one lb. Could this be water retention or something else? I have seen this twice already on my waterfasting. I can’t explain why if I’m not eating anything but water, sparkling water and vitamins, how could this be? I can certainly blame my balance, but, then I should re consider the last weight- ins I have had if are accurate as well :neutral_face:

So today is

DAY 12

I have loads and loads of energy! My mind is so clear and fast I am performing very well at work :dizzy:

My body today was freezing at office. I out and the outside warmth really comforted me. Feet and hands are cold, But in an overall I’m fine. Body is not feeling hungry at all. What I have noticed though is a little bit on the right side of my tummy while having the massage ( more info below).

Spirit is feeling great. I am taking it with calm athought sometimes I feel really euphoric due to the energy I have and also because I feel I’m doing something everybody thinks is incorrect and that adds some more emotion to the situation :rofl:

Tomorrow the nutritionist will come from her vacations and she will see how much weight I’ve dropped. I know what she will say… " I do not recommend it. You have to eat a plate half protein, half vegetables, a non caloric dessert… 5 pieces of fruit…" blablabla
Like if saying it is as easy as doing it, right ? :slightly_smiling_face: I would only like she follows my progress. As for her advises, I think they should study the new medical researches as their old school methods are very antiquate already.

Lymphatic drainage:

The massage therapist told me that my legs are swollen due to water retention and I have some nodules on my groin due to the non cleaned residues on my body. I can feel those nodules if I touch them. I am not sure they were there before the fasting, but as now I have less fat, I can clearly feel them. Sometimes the skin of my legs hurt when I touch it

I will start to have one massage per week only on my legs as is there where I feel I need them the most.

See you tomorrow and happy fasting! :four_leaf_clover:

Your welcome. Thought you’d be taking a break having achieved your BMI goal. So what is your new goal btw?

Yes, its most probably water weight at only 1lb. Since you did a relatively short fast, I doubt its due to major organ regrowth but I can’t be sure since most of the studies have been on mice.

Yes, I too have to dress more warmly than before. I attribute it to losing all that insulation (aka fat) that I used to carry. How’s your blood pressure? I’ve heard a lot of women say they experience feeling colder due to lower b.p. I didn’t have that problem with hypertension.

Thanks for that scientific breakdown of the white coating on the tongue. Good stuff!

The minerals you added makes the body hold on to more water to create a balance in the cells, so don’t worry about the scale! You ARE losing fat when you’re fasting! If you are close to having your period, that can also be a reason for the body to hold more water weigh!

Hi Miko! Nice to meet you  I can absolutely relate to the dry skin. I tried to gently exfoliate with an exfoliation cloth, and hydrate with coconut oil. Also I remove makeup with coconut oil because I feel that my skin needs the oil. I’ve also had a coworker worried about me during my water fast (actually @Compdude it was 15 days/368 hours). It wasn’t easy to work full days and do water fasting at the same time and I agree with @Compdude about restricting the exercise you’re doing in your daily life. For example, I work in a huge tower (Olympic stadium) and my corworkers and I frequently will take the steps when going from meetings to meetings. Well I had to stop doing that and take the elevator instead. I couldn’t keep up and I was out of breath in no time. It made my coworkers worried and it made myself worried as well. I decided to lower the stress on my body.

Happy fasting I’m enjoying reading your journey! Take care and stay safe!

Hi again @Compdude, @Anna and nice to meet you too, @Cream35. !! Thank you for the tip on coconut oil. I love natural stuff and coconut oil it’s great for hidration and also smells amazing. How didn’t come to my mind!? :grinning::coconut:

@Compdude replying to your question on my new goal; I knew it wouldn’t be enough to fast until I reach the limit of normal/overweight IBM, since when we refeed, we gain some Kg anyways. I was thinking on loosing some more weight and then stop. However, since I was stuck on that 64 Kg’s range, I felt a little bit demotivated, and having into consideration that the weekend was coming and I haven’t shared moments ( food included ) with family since almost 2 weeks, I decided to refeed.

I started refeeding on Friday afternoon, with some fruits as watermelon and papaya.
At night I had cooked veggies.
Saturday cooked veggies again with some couscous, on Sunday the same but with chicken already, and today I included bread.

Have to say that I have no sugar cravings at all! I even see chocolate and candies on supermarket and wouldn’t think on buying any of those anymore. Also, I’m avoiding all the E- conservatives, colorants, flavor enhancers, etc that we find on stuff. I don’t think those are healthy.

My weight:

On my 12 days water-fast I lost 8 Kg in total. I have re-gained 2 in 4 days. :slightly_smiling_face: I don’t think this is bad, since I’m eating loads of fruits and veggies. I am not stuffing myself with bread and sweets as in the past.

Regarding my new weight, I sometimes find it funny when I use more energy than I should.
For example, I try to wake up and I jump abruptly instead

@Anna, you mentioned something about resetting the taste buds. Is that when you feel a little bit of hurt on your tongue when eating fruits? I have felt like when you try lemon on your tongue. That tingling feeling

Anyways, the experiment has not finished yet. I am planning to make another period of fasting again. I really miss the state of mind I was having during my fast. I miss to drink enough water and feel calm. I will be fasting at least during my working days and eat on weekends.

New goal: Loosing some more weight just to be on the safe zone and learning to eat healthy.
Should I say, control myself to eat healthy :grinning::green_apple:

Will be checking in here when I start fasting again. Maybe tomorrow.

Good luck and happy fasting! :four_leaf_clover:

It’s great that you don’t crave those things! That was a huge win for me too after my fast, I’m not interested in processed foods anymore!

With resetting the tastebuds I meant resetting the neuroadaptation. As an example, when you’ve been outside in the sun, and enter a darker room, it’s pitch black at first, but after a while, the eyes are adapting and you can see much better and realise that it wasn’t really that dark. Same thing with wearing a perfume, it smells strong in the beginning, but after a little while, you can’t really smell it yourself, even if others can.
The tastebuds adaptation is occurring when we haven’t had food or any flavour in a longer period of time, and when you finally eat again, the flavours can be very strong.
Many people who hates plain vegetables for example, are so used to big amounts of salt, sugar or a lot of flavour, so they can’t taste the smaller amounts of natural sugar and salt in the vegetables.
The adaptation can happen even if we don’t fast, but then adapting takes much longer until we actually enjoy the plain simple and natural foods!

@Anna Thanks for the word “neuroadaptation”, I’d been trying to think of a more appropriate term than neuroplasticity and you supplied it.

@Miko I took to resetting my taste palate before I began fasting. The reason was to avoid cravings during fasting and binging during ReFeeding. It’s been successful so far, with my latest test yesterday. I had one of my favorite Filipino snacks, Sky Flacks, as a dessert for lunch. Before I used to binge 10 packs of them, now I was happy with just eating the one 2-cracker pack. Also for dinner dessert I had a Drumstick Vanilla Ice Cream cone. Like Sky Flakes, I couldn’t just have one and sneak out later to the fridge at night to have 2 to 3 more! Now, I’m very satisfied with just one. Btw, I’m not currently fasting and working on regaining body flexibility so I have more leeway on what I can eat at this time. I’ll be re-starting a new water fast on the 21st later this month.

It’s been 37 days since I ended my last fast so I’m happy of the fact that I continue to be in a state of no longer being a carb/sugar addict is holding. But, I do continue to “test”. LOL
