Thanks so much! Will do

As a late update for Day 1/2, things are going pretty well. Day 1 was surprisingly hard, though idk why I was surprised since I’ve been struggling to extend a fast beyond omad for a while. Day feeling much better all day, I think now it’s well beyond the first day, closing the second that it will be easierto hold out

Day 3

I am craving vegemite on toast. I feel like if there’s anything I would break my fast for, it’s vegemite and butter on toasted white bread

I’m going to be “dirty” fasting this time, like maybe have a glass of pepsi max (zero sugar) if i feel too hungry, had a little bit through Day 3.

I’m not finding it quite so difficult to ignore cravings now, but I know last time I tanked out at 7 days so I’ll have to see how I go through that point.

Ola checking in - doing okay. Dealt with the digestive tract clear-out part 1 the past two days. Always fun…

I’ve been doing some soul searching and decided I don’t want to focus on what ‘day’ of the fast I am on, because I am finding myself obsessing over it. So going forward, my check-ins will just be dated and at the end of it I’ll count back  That will probably suck for people who want to read this post completion (if they do…lol) but maybe I can edit in the Days then.

I also finally found a supplement with potassium! I think it’s almost 0 potassium basically (it’s a multi), but some is better than none.

@Compdude I’ve been reading your 40-day water fast thread and it’s been super helpful and motivating. I think I might read over some of the entries on the daily and follow your new posts as well.

How do I feel right now?
Last night I bought a bunch of new basic clothes which I needed, along with some supplements & a new soda stream bottle (we love). This morning I had my hair cut, bought more clothes for work, and spent this afternoon creating a big workbook of spreadsheets which track my checking account in/outflows, savings, housing fund (am saving moving expenses so I don’t need to draw from savings) AND… weight loss/fasting. I think at the end of this fast, I will upload a copy of the latter with my daily numbers/comments in case anyone wants it.

Like I mentioned above, I am ‘dirty fasting’ this go around, and that basically means I’m letting myself have sugar-free drinks in addition to my usual tea. Obviously nothing crazy, but I need to let myself ‘cheat’ in a healthy way.

As a way to kick off, I made some lemonade using a soda stream and sugar-free lemonade mix, and poured them into icypole molds (I think Americans call it popsicle). I’ve eaten 5 today :eyes: but fortunately it’s totaled maybe 6-7 calories all up :full_moon_with_face: I’m quietly excited to try the same with other sugar free drinks. As an added benefit, chewing the ice makes me feel like I’m eating.

I feel really accomplished today

How do I feel right now?
I’m feeling good  I get hunger in the evening when I’m sitting in bed but I’ve been distracting myself. Tracking my finances/weight/measurements is giving me like 15 minutes of things to do each evening which is nice :stuck_out_tongue:

Today I went to work, it was fine honestly. I had a cup of green tea at lunch. I had a 1hr PT session this evening, focusing primarily on legs and it was exhausting!! I did leg press, leg curl, lunges, lunge squats, 1.5min run intervals…SMH. I was eager to go home after but I feel great that I did it.

I had VIVID dream I ate a golden rough. I was meant to go to the gym this morning but stayed up late watching tv and completely slept in and have been feeling really of it and disoriented this morning.

I’ve been taking waist measurements the past few days and it seriously went up 0.5cm in a day despite losing 0.3kg…how?! I’m measuring daily so I hope it goes the other way from now on.

Don’t fixate on daily measurements. The human body is a complicated mechanism and has its own timetable. It’s better to look at the overall trend and a weekly average. This is what I preached to my clients when I was a CPT.

How do I feel right now?
I’m feeling pretty good actually  I’ve been pretty hungry today but I’ve also been able to ignore it. One thing I do like is that I haven’t been feeling this deep seated desperation to eat, it’s moreso an annoyance. I am finding not tracking my days specifically is helping, though I keep thinking I’m like 3 days further into it and being like FML when it’s not almost over lol.

Yesterday I had some work stress going on, and was preparing for a HUGE meeting I had today. I missed gym in the morning, but made up for it by going to a boxing class in the evening :slight_smile:They made us do sprints and I was dying and regretted going in that moment.

I then spent all evening preparing for my meeting and watching TV. I did get my weight & measurements in though, so all is well.

I’ll post again later this evening for today’s experience, but overall I am doing quite well at the moment. I may need to start adding some supplements/additional salt going forward.

What are your other top 3 reasons people fail to achieve their fasting goals?

#1. Sugar/carb addiction. When ppl get hit with unexpected stress go into fight/flight. To relieve stress body wants high density caloric food. Translates to cravings during fasts or binging during ReFeeds.

#2. No building up of fasting muscle. It’s like a person finally can jog around a city block and then expect to complete the Boston Marathon the next day.

#3. No plan with daily and intermediate goals and milestones showing clear path to final goal.

Those are the top 3 I’ve seen. Highlighted by comparing those who fail to those who succeed.

Hey you might have an answer for this- I started getting stomach pain overnight, and it has passed mostly now but boy… is that common during fasting?

Yes, primarily due to detoxification as you start burning old fat. One of the body’s protective mechanism is storing heavy metals and toxins we ingest through our environment and in the food we eat (i.e. pesticides). These toxins are released when the body starts burning the fat its stored in. But, as you noted its a temporary phenomenon. At the end of my 40 day, had several incidents of puking up liquid from my stomach which was toxin residue mixed with acetone. Every time I felt better afterward.

Also several times, I had lower back pain from my kidneys working overtime processing these old toxins to be dispensed through my urine.
