Day #6 completed for me! I’m proud of myself because I’ve never fasted more than 48 hours!

Still having major issues with heartburn.
Had a small :poop: today. ??? Very strange to me.
I also GAINED A POUND. Seriously??? I’m not sure how that happened with only water all day. My body does NOT want to release this fat! However, I realize it’s just a number on a scale and not a complete picture of what’s going on.

Tomorrow evening, I will break my fast with bone broth, sauerkraut, avocado and some olives; maybe some Brussels sprouts too. I’m looking forward to food again.

I’m doing a 7-day re-feed (keto OMAD), and then I will start again on Feb. 3rd for another 7-day fast until the 9th. That will give me time to be ready for a nice Valentine’s Day dinner with my Ted Bear!

I’m new at extended fasting. I felt my best on day 5: not hungry; lots of energy. Today, I had less energy and I was incredibly hungry all day with lots of very uncomfortable heartburn. I just need to make it to tomorrow night! I’m determined to make this a lifestyle as I get back to a healthy weight!

Yay, so close to your goal now! :sparkles::clap:
Even though the scale can go both up and down while fasting I promise you that you’ve still lost fat!
Depending on different processes that occurs in your body, it will hold on to more water at different points.
Congratulations on getting this far!

Thank you, Anna!

Congratulations on sticking to your goal :grinning:

Thank you, Krista!!

Today is DAY 7 and I will start my re-feed tonight around 6pm! I lost 2 more pounds from last night.

Starting weight: 232
Ending weight: 221
Total lost: 11 lbs (5 kilos for you metric peeps!)

I feel great today! I would keep going, but I’m traveling to my mom’s 5 hours away for a couple of days. I’m taking my re-feed food with me and I will continue with OMAD.

I’m Making my journal entry early today because I plan to post my 1st re feed meal in the re feed thread. I am ecstatic and so very surprised that I actually got through as far as I did! I never thought I could go 7 days without eating a meal! You guys are all such an inspiration to me!

My plan: 7-day re-feed break consisting of Keto/OMAD. Then, jump into the middle of the Valentine’s challenge with another 7-day fast. The next Monday, I will start another fast. Maybe 14 days??

My husband is starting to come around. He’s doing intermittent fasting (IF) with Keto 2 meals a day (2MAD) for this week, then he will transition to OMAD. I’m so proud of him! He’s already lost 8 lbs! :raised_hands:

I’m a little bothered by the fact that I may gain some of my weight back during the refeed, so I’m going to be as mindful as I can about my portions. I detest counting calories. Also, I really miss butter coffee with heavy cream. Not sure how that works if your one meal is around 6pm, because I don’t drink coffee with dinner. @Compdude @Yasemin

I also will incorporate walking and stretching during my fasts like @Compdude does because I believe that may cause greater results.

It’s your call. To me the primary principle overriding all else is it something that allows you to keep your new lifestyle sustainable. From research into people who have lost weight, a major milestone is 2 years. If you can maintain your weight within a practical range for that amount of time it means you’ve made the lifestyle change permanent.

For me personally, I go with the research by Dr Saatchin Panda of the Salk Institute who is considered one of the leading experts in Circadian Rhythm. He posits that the body is most insulin sensitive in the morning and that 2 hours before your normal sleep time your brain will signal the pancreas to begin shutting down insulin production. In other words, I explain to people its better to have the donut in the morning than the cheesecake at night. When I’m not fasting I have a light meal of coffee and carbs soon after I wake up and my main meal 2 to 3 hours later. I don’t eat anything beyond 3pm. But that’s a schedule, that for me, is sustainable.

Yas’ has a different schedule for her OMAD and she can provide the details on that.

Hope this helps!

Hi Jenny!! I’m so proud of both you and your husband as well!:sparkling_heart: You’re obviously a great influence on him

The thing is that butter and creamer etc will spike insulin, but I know you wouldn’t want to drink coffee with dinner!

Maybe you can truly for a couple days but also be mindful that it will kind of break your OMAD! You have to find something sustainable for you, so if you do your coffee in the morning/afternoon ish with your 1 meal at night, I think it SHOULD be fine as long we you’re not snacking during the day! Otherwise you can also try it black temporarily! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m so proud of you for pushing through 7 days! You are AMAZING! Don’t focus too much on the scale, sometimes you can have an egg and still gain a couple pounds because some is water weight right, so we have to expect it!:sparkling_heart: Focus on the way your clothing feels and go slow with refeed for first 2-3 days try to stick to bone broth and green veggies and avocado (egg/protein/meal) can be introduced closer to day 3 to avoid any tummy issues that might send you to the washroom!!

Thank you both, @Yasemin @Compdude!! I’ve thought about making lunch my one meal, but it really interferes with social activities. Oh well, it’s trial and error, and I’m committed even through the errors. I’ve learned some things that I will be changing up for the next fast!

Thank you!!! I feel like I could start another fast today , but I’m going to do the full 7 days OMAD. Can’t stand black coffee, so I’m having some vanilla chai black tea with 1 tbsp heavy cream. 1 carb shouldn’t be enough to bring me out of ketosis or spike my insulin too much. It is 50 calories, though. I don’t have one of those fancy gadgets that gives all that info. Lol

DAY 3 REFEED

Ok, left town to visit my mom. Nice break! All is going well with my refeed. What I’m eating is pretty much the same as the first day, just a bit more, and I added one hard boiled egg. I also had one cup of coffee with 1 tbsp heavy cream, and it’s do-able.

I may try a bit of chicken tomorrow. I am trying to stay away from all sweet tastes to see if I can break my cravings for them. I am also going to leave cheese off my menu until I can do an elimination diet to see how or if it’s affecting me. I dearly love cheese, but this is the root problem: my relationship and associations with certain foods. Food does not rule me. I rule my food.

That’s the way to go, can’t let food and cravings rule your life :innocent:
Nice to hear that you are doing good on your refeed:blush::yum:

Day # 5 after 7-day water fast…
Lost 2 more pounds, and down a total of 13! (232 to 219)Yesterday, I decided to do a 48-hr fast. I’m going try Alternate Day Fasting with OMAD/Keto for awhile. I still plan to do some extended day fasts.

My fasting days will be Sun, Tues and Thursdays, with my eating days being Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat. I’ve read of a lot about the positive results for women my age (50+) with this method.

I did wake up with a slight headache this morning, but it’s gone now. I ate very keto during my 3 refeed days. Maybe my body is still trying to break the carb addiction? I was already in ketosis, so I don’t think it was a keto flu symptom. :woman_shrugging: I think I will have to give up coffee altogether. It’s just meh without stevia, and I’m trying to break my sweet cravings. :disappointed_relieved: The desire for it actually fuels my cravings.

Anyway, I’m not going to post every day unless I’m doing an extended fast for support and accountability. I keep a handwritten journal, so I will still be tracking my progress. I’m posting some progress pics right after this entry. Not too much difference, and I’m not very good with collages, so the scale of the pics is way off. :see_no_evil: Anyway, I would rather post weekly while doing ADF, in hope of seeing a more dramatic difference. Right now, not so much.

Day 9 of Alternate Day Fasting, OMAD Keto! Lost 10 lbs on my 7-day water fast immediately prior to this with a 3-day Refeed. Lost another 8 lbs for a total of 18 lbs in 18 days. 232 to 214!

This is working well for me. I will begin another water fast after Valentine’s Day! Progress pics to come!
