Donna's Summertime Journey ☀

Restarting the 60 Days of my Summertime Journey

Workouts and Fasting

What happened:
I found it impossible to fast with the tough workouts I was doing. However I did continue to work on dealing with the tendency to overeat, :pig: as prescribed in Never Binge Again.

Two main reasons to stay on track:
:white_check_mark: Get my blood pressure down before my next checkup.
:white_check_mark: Get my weight down before my next checkup.

Note: On a good note, I donated platelets the other day and as a matter of routine, the Red Cross :drop_of_blood: is now testing for COVID antibodies and I was negative. No surprise there.

Now that I have completed the month’s workouts, I have decided to do the next phase of rotating the weights workouts from the previous three months.

:alarm_clock: Fasting schedule: Tues, Thurs, Sat of each week

Eating days are also weights days :weight_lifting_woman: (MWF) plus Sunday. Eating days are carnivore :cut_of_meat: and keto with a 4-6 eating window.

I’ve set up some other personal growth daily tasks and set some alarm reminders on my phone. It is time to expand. :+1:

Day 1 of 60 (Restart)

Yesterday I made my list of objectives and daily tasks for the next 75 days, and this subset of 60 is aiming for a return to my ideal weight. Sixty days will still be summer, so I look forward to Sept. 8 as the end of this push. :spiral_calendar:

Today is a fasting day. I’ve got a fresh pitcher of electrolyte water :cup_with_straw:and all is well. I started using the Life fasting app again which always tends to encourage me as I see how far I’ve come. :hourglass_flowing_sand:

Because last month’s weights workouts were so tough , I didn’t feel up to fasting. However, this new month of workouts will rotate routines from the previous three months, so it should be a little more manageable with fasting.

Today’s workout session was yoga :woman_in_lotus_position: in addition to my morning walk with the dog :dog: and the evening walk will be around 6-7 PM. On the walk, since hubby was with me and holding the leash, I again picked up litter. Once you start doing that :wastebasket:, you tend to see it everywhere!

I’ve already rehearsed my “Big Why” out loud and now I’m spending a little time with the workbook. Took a quick break to post this update!

Day 2 of 60

Yesterday was a 42-hour fast. Today was mostly carnivore.

I spent some time on the workbook this afternoon. I also reread my Big Why and my personal rules. I am growing in confidence.

Tomorrow is a weights day and carnivore. Onward!

Day 3 of 60
Scale was down this morning which was nice.

Today was a weights workout and I also took advantage of the weather and weeded the flower bed for a while.

I continue to use the Never Binge Again workbook and reread my Big Why out loud.

It’s a nice feeling to stick to the plan and cross it off every day. :+1:

Now I am fasting until Wed which is the next weights day. Onward!

Day 4 of 60
Scale was nicely down this morning. :white_check_mark:

Although the idea of eating appealed to me, I’ve stayed fasting. Today, I did my workout and also weeded a bit before it got too hot again. I don’t know that I will get to the point where I can fast on a weights day, but I’m going to see how it goes after this week.

I’m finding that the meat of the workbook is in the first three chapters. Subsequent chapters are intended to be written in on a regular basis, fine-tuning and personalizing it to one’s personal experience. However with chapter 8, it seems to be more providing information again. I’ll continue to work through it and allow it to work as designed for me.

Onward! :+1:

Day 5 of 60

Scale down a little today. "Down is down!"

My weights workout kicked my butt :weight_lifting_woman: and I sweated a lot. I actually look forward to sore muscles-- proves I worked hard! :grinning:

Today is carnivore :cut_of_meat: after 41-hour fast.

Listening to Dr. Rob Cywes (#CarbAddictionDoc) on “Keto Stalling” on YouTube. What I appreciate about him is he is a self-confessed carb addict and he is a straight shooter. :gun: BAM!

Day 6 of 60

Nice drop on the scale this morning although I ate yesterday. :+1:

Today I’m fasting. Funny how about mid-morning I started to go into the automatic “I could get something in the kitchen”, and then immediately thought: “Oops! I’m fasting so that will have to wait.”

For some reason I’ve been waking up at odd times (too often) after odd dreams. But I’m tweaking my bedtime supplements to see what will work better for me. I haven’t taken melatonin in some time, but after viewing Dr. Ken Berry’s video on sleep, I pulled it out to take tonight.

Onward! :arrow_upper_right:

Day 7 of 60

It’s weird to wake up to a gain when I fasted yesterday, no sweeteners or anything. Oh well. No doubt it’s just my body adapting to all the changes I am making.

Today my workout :weight_lifting_woman: kicked my butt again, but that’s good! I woke up earlier than usual which is also good. I like to get an early start on everything. :sunny:

Today is carnivore :cut_of_meat: I also need to make my Shih Tzu’s food since she is almost out. I’ve seen an improvement in her energy and teeth since I started making it myself. It’s a recipe I got from a vet online.

Isn’t it funny that when you take your pet to the vet, they ask what you are feeding her, but when you go to the doctor for yourself, they never do?

Doctors (GP’s) are not really trained in nutrition. That is something that really needs to be addressed.

It’s true. I’ve heard over and over that doctors get one 45-minute class and that’s it. We are blessed to have available to us now doctors who have studied and learned and are broadcasting the truth online and also writing books.

Day 8 of 60
The scale was back down today and it’s a fast day. I’m about 4 pounds down for the week. :+1:

My shoulders are sore today from the workout which proved I worked to build strength. Today my workout will focus on flexibility. :woman_in_lotus_position:

Day 9 of 60

It’s so weird for the scale to be up when I fasted the day before. Oh well. Today is keto and a rest day.

A couple of emotional things going on and wine is really calling me. Best if i just stay home and ignore it.

Still a little sore in the shoulders. Tomorrow is a weights day. Onward!

Day 11 of 60

I didn’t post yesterday. Today I am 180 days no wine which is good, but I am having a real challenge with fatigue. And I ate too much yesterday even though none of it was junk.

Today is a fast day.
