DAY 8
Starting weight - 199.6 lbs

Getting into a groove. This is the start of the grind. It’s fun the first week to see pounds dropping so quickly. Now comes the grind of roughly half a pound a day or so. I made a friend of mine a lemon meringue pie because his dad’s in the hospital. Ended up making two because my family wanted one too. Finished up making some chicken bone broth for when I’m all done. So it’s in the freezer waiting for me. Tomorrow is day 9. Two days to get to day 10.

Surprised by that big drop in weight today. Had an day obsessing about food. At work, that’s all everybody talked about. I found some recipes I want to try when I’m done and I’m thinking of making some homemade kimchi to eat when I’m all done. Day 10 starts tomorrow. Next Milestone!

I hate days where I don’t lose ANYTHING. But I made it to day 10. It was a long day so just a short post today.

Today was rough. Didn’t get enough sleep last night so I was dragging at work this morning. Plus work has been crazy busy for the last few weeks. I’m going to bed early tonight to try and get some extra rest. I was craving food really bad today too. I was reading an article from Dr. Jason Fung and his protocol says you can drink bone broth. I kept thinking how good that sounded when I got home from work. A nice, hot, salty cup of bone broth. I’m right in my old habits of watching food videos and finding new recipes I want to try. I’ve still been good about resisting the urge to try a bunch of new recipes on my family and torture myself by watching them eat it. Day 11 in the books. One more day of work tomorrow and then I have a few days off.

One of the biggest issues I have right now is just dealing with nasty breath and a gross feeling mouth. I try to drink more water and it gets rid of it temporarily. Apple cider vinegar seems to help as well but I usually only take one tablespoon of that at night before I go to bed. Anybody have any suggestions or remedies for nasty mouth?

There’s baking soda, and charcoal powder to try.

I’ve heard you can buy tongue scrapers off Amazon. That may help?
I think the mouth/breath resolves after a certain amount of time. I have read that it is a symptom of detoxing on a long fast and the tongue will clear at the end of the fast (around 30-40 days). I haven’t been able to reach a long fast (more than 6 days) yet, so I’m just going from what I read.

I made it to day 14! I’ve done it before, but this is the first time that I’ve made it without having huge plans on a meal that I was going to eat the next day. I keep having thoughts about breaking my fast, but then I get on here and see my progress and everybody else’s progress and want to stay strong. Next milestone is 21 days (I think). Here’s to another day of water!

You’ve got this. I too get instances of cravings and then just have to work through it.
For me it seems like a 3 or 5 minute craving, or panic, but once the 5 minutes are done it’s back to normal. Happens about 5 or 6 times a day :slight_smile:
We only have 7 days left … we can do this :sunglasses:

Quick update tonight. Ran/walked 1 mile today. Felt pretty weak and tired throughout the day. Drank ACV diluted a couple times today because that seems to stave of the bad breath and acid reflux. Hunger pangs are pretty easy to ignore. The hard part is the obsession with food. Fantasizing about what foods I’m going to eat when this is all over. Going strong though. Thanks for the support!

Seriously considering whether I should shorten my fast to 21 days. Had a real rough day today dealing with cravings and nasty breath. Wanted to puke a couple times while I was at work today. It was a combination of nausea and the nasty taste in my mouth. We’ll see how the next couple of days go.

@bralee21 you’ve done so well, also considering you have been preparing food and cakes etc. all while fasting!!! You have done amazing. :clap: :muscle:
I just need to cope at supper time when my fiance cooks/eats, the food smells and looks sooooo good, more so these last few days … :see_no_evil:

Oh that sounds horrible! I hope you feel better and find what’s best for you! You’ve already done such amazing work! If going over 21 days is going to make you sick then you’re body is telling you something. Good luck and keep us posted!

Started the day off feeling kinda crappy. Still felt a bit nauseated today. Jason Fung’s protocol says that bone broth is ok to drink during a fast, so for dinner I drank bone broth to see if that will help me feel a little better. I enjoyed it thoroughly, then had just a slight stomach ache after. I might bring some to sip on at lunch for work tomorrow. I also had a BM after having the bone broth. First one in 17 days :joy:. I’m going to try to push through to day 21 and I’m hoping the bone broth will help curb any nausea.

Do you have a Crock-Pot and access to chicken feet?

I’ve made the most amazing bone broth from that.

It gets nice and jelly like in the fridge and then I portion it into the freezer.
